Pegasus like spyware attack likely on select individuals

top-news

Again a warning has been issued by Apple to its users for Pegasus-like spyware attacks on the select users. This warning is issued to 92 country users including India. The most vulnerable users are Journalists, activists, politicians, and diplomats. Apple threat notifications assist users who may have been individually targeted by mercenary spyware attacks. The attacks are complex in comparison to regular cybercriminal activity. Consumer malware by mercenary spyware attacks requires exceptional resources to target a very small number of specific individuals and their devices. More interesting is the timing of the attack. Throughout the world, nearly 50 countries are going to the polls. Mercenary spyware attacks cost millions of dollars and have a short shelf life, making them much harder to detect and prevent. Cyber security watchdog CERT-In also took cognizance of the warning and advised users to be more vigilant and keep on upgrading software.
