The defence minister emphasises the importance of ultra-modern technology

Defence Minister while inaugurating the three-day 41st edition of the ICG Commanders' Conference in New Delhi, underlined the importance of ultra-modern technology on maritime borders. He said that modernisation acts as a force multiplier to further strengthen the country's security system. The vision is to make the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) one of the world's strongest coastguards he said. Becoming a technology-oriented force from being human-oriented will be a concrete step towards upgradation to deal with conventional as well as emerging threats in today's unpredictable times. The annual gathering serves as a vital forum for the Indian Coastal Guard's Senior Commanders to engage in meaningful discussions on pressing strategic, operational, and administrative matters, all framed against the backdrop of shifting geopolitical landscapes and the complexities of maritime security.
The Defence Minister said that The technological revolution has become a global phenomenon in the era of Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Technology and drones, and the field of security is witnessing significant changes. He added that though the importance of manpower will always remain, the world should know us as a technology-oriented Coast Guard. The minister reiterated the government's commitment to modernise and bolster the Armed Forces and Indian Coast Guard (ICG) with indigenous platforms and equipment. Asserting that the three Services are evolving themselves with changing times, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) continues improving itself, creating a unique identity, gaining expertise in its domain, and moving forward with renewed vigour.
